Financial Counselor Job Description

At Acadia Healthcare, we are seeking a highly skilled Financial Counselor to join our team. As a Financial Counselor, you will play a critical role in ensuring the financial well-being of our patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Auditing and Verification: Conduct thorough audits of patient admission packets and verify benefits, demographic information, and patient accounting system data.
  • Financial Counseling and Collections: Provide expert financial guidance to patients and/or guarantors, collecting out-of-pocket expenses, deductibles, and copays.
  • Financial Disclosure and Adjustment: Complete financial disclosure paperwork, verify income and expenses, and process charity or administrative adjustments.
  • Payment Arrangements and Promissory Notes: Create and manage payment arrangements, including promissory notes for patients requiring financial assistance.
  • Log Maintenance and Review: Update daily logs for upfront collections, charity, and administrative adjustments, and review with the Board of Directors on a weekly basis.
  • Data Analysis and Interpretation: Gather and interpret data from the system, identifying opportunities for payment and implementing strategic steps to secure revenue.
Requirements:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: Three or more years of experience in a related field required.
  • Skills: Extensive knowledge of Commercial Insurance and Medicare/Medicaid required.
