About the Position

Wayside Recovery Center is seeking a qualified Counselor to join our team in providing individual and group counseling services to women with co-occurring disorders. As a Counselor, you will be responsible for assessing clients, developing treatment plans, and providing ongoing support and guidance to help them achieve recovery.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage a caseload of women with co-occurring disorders, providing individual and group counseling services, and conducting assessments and treatment planning.
  2. Facilitate counseling groups, educational groups, and family meetings, as needed.
  3. Maintain accurate and timely records, including client assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
  4. Complete direct access assessments and updates, as required.
  5. Communicate with referral sources, including written progress reports and phone communication.
  6. Model behavior consistent with and supportive of people in recovery from substance use disorders.
  7. Attend commencements and client events, as scheduled.
  8. Identify available resources and refer clients to appropriate community services.
  9. Facilitate client access to community resources.
  10. Participate in in-services, workshops, and continuing education relative to quality client care.
  11. Provide crisis intervention and evaluation, as needed.
  12. Participate in weekly multidisciplinary staff meetings and on-site clinical supervision.
  13. Collaborate with all teams and follow 245G guidelines.
  14. Maintain client confidentiality in accordance with state guidelines and HIPAA requirements.
Qualifications
  • ADC-T or LADC license in good standing, or dual licensed with mental health licensure or pre-licensure.
  • Three to five years of clinical experience, preferably in mental health and trauma-informed care.
  • Ability to pass DHS background study and be free of communicable disease.
  • Demonstrated ability to time manage and work effectively with women of diverse economic and cultural backgrounds.
  • Organizational and excellent computer skills, with Microsoft Outlook/Office experience required.
  • Current Minnesota driver's license with a good driving record, and reliable transportation.
  • No DWIs in the last three years, and no more than three moving violations/accidents in the past three years.
  • Ability to climb stairs and lift 25 pounds.
