Job Overview:
The Oregon State Government is seeking a meticulous and skilled individual for the role of Tax Auditor 2. This position is part of the Personal Tax & Compliance Division, focusing on ensuring compliance with tax regulations and providing essential services to the citizens of Oregon.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Tax Auditor 2, your primary duties will include:
- Reviewing tax returns that align with the operational objectives of the section.
- Conducting audits through various methods including in-person, virtual, and telephonic communications to accurately assess tax adjustments based on individual income tax returns.
- Preparing comprehensive audit documentation and reports, and updating taxpayer records in the agency's systems.
- Representing the department in audit appeals, addressing cases at all levels of the appeal process.
- Identifying and referring individuals or entities that are non-compliant with tax filing requirements to appropriate agency divisions.
Qualifications:
To qualify for the Tax Auditor 2 position, candidates must possess:
- Three years of relevant experience in tax preparation, auditing, or professional accounting.
- A Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, or equivalent coursework in accounting or finance combined with practical experience.
