Position Overview:
UCF is looking to fill several openings for the Custodial Services Associate I role. Applicants for this position will be considered for other vacancies within the department. Become a vital member of our high-performance team as a Custodial Services Associate I.

In this position, you will play a key role in ensuring the cleanliness and operational efficiency of campus facilities, contributing to a safe, effective, and inviting environment for our community.

Your responsibilities will include a variety of tasks, responding to urgent situations, and participating in a collaborative work setting through cross-training opportunities.


Key Responsibilities:
Maintain cleanliness of furniture, walls, and equipment, ensuring compliance with rigorous cleanliness standards.
Perform vacuuming of carpeted areas, including relocating furniture as necessary, and execute spot cleaning as needed.
Sweep, mop, and uphold the cleanliness of floors, stairwells, entrances, and other surfaces.
Dispose of trash and recycling from designated locations, ensuring cleanliness throughout the facility.
Sanitize and replenish restrooms and communal areas to guarantee cleanliness and availability.
Conduct carpet shampooing and extraction as per the established cleaning schedules.
Assist with basic maintenance tasks such as painting, replacing light bulbs, and performing minor repairs on carpets or ceiling tiles.

Respond swiftly to emergencies and urgent requests, including water incidents and air quality cleanups, ensuring prompt resolution and minimal disruption.

Perform tasks that may require standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 lbs.

Minimum Qualifications:
Completion of 9th grade or an equivalent combination of education and experience as per Florida standards.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ year of relevant experience in custodial or similar roles.
  • 1+ year of experience performing basic maintenance tasks in commercial or residential settings (e.g., painting, light bulb replacement, minor repairs).
  • Familiarity with small and large tools used for essential tasks (e.g., floor care equipment, mops, brooms).
  • Proficiency in standard office software applications and work order systems.
  • Ability to understand safety protocols and utilize approved cleaning agents.
  • Customer service-oriented approach with the capacity to interact professionally with staff.
  • Strong communication skills for effective instruction following.
  • Basic decision-making skills to assess cleaning and maintenance needs.
  • Adaptability to varied environmental conditions and schedules.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Health Assessment Required:
UCF policy mandates the completion and passing of a physical examination for this position.
