Job Title: Land Survey Instrument Person

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Land Survey Instrument Person to join our team at Fisher Associates, P.E., L.S., L.A., D.P.C. As a key member of our surveying team, you will be responsible for setting up and operating a variety of surveying instruments, including total stations, data collectors, levels, scanners, and GPS, to gather survey data for topographic, boundary, ALTA, construction stakeout, and utility surveys.

Responsibilities:
  • Set up and operate surveying instruments to gather data for various types of surveys
  • Cut and clear brush and trees from survey lines using brush hooks, machetes, chain saws, or other cutting tools
  • Read and interpret various types of maps and plans
  • Complete neat field notes and sketches
  • Maintain survey equipment, ensuring it is clean and dry, and reporting any broken or damaged equipment to the Party Chief
  • Ensure batteries for all equipment are fully charged on a nightly basis
  • Keep survey trucks stocked with necessary supplies and tools, and keep them swept out and cleaned as needed
  • Keep equipment rooms cleaned and organized, and track supplies to ensure an adequate supply is on hand
  • Assist the Party Chief as directed
  • Effectively coordinate with other sectors and service lines to fulfill project needs
Requirements:
  • 1-3 years of surveying experience preferred
  • Experience in operating electronic survey instrumentation, including total stations, levels, GPS, and data collectors
  • Customer service and client relations experience preferred
  • Knowledge of basic mathematical principles, land surveying terminology, and field survey methods and techniques

Work Environment:

The physical demands of this role include lifting up to 50 pounds, possessing a valid driver's license, and driving a company vehicle. Traveling on a regular basis to project sites located throughout New York and Pennsylvania is also required. The ability to traverse uneven grounds, sit, stand, and walk, and work in physically challenging outdoor situations in all types of weather is essential.
