Overview of the Role:

The Maintenance Plumber is responsible for the assembly, installation, and repair of piping systems, fittings, and fixtures associated with heating, water, or drainage systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assemble, install, and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems, adhering to specifications and plumbing regulations.

• Analyze building plans and working drawings to identify necessary tools and the order of installations.

• Inspect structures to identify potential obstructions that could compromise structural integrity during pipe installation.

• Determine and mark the locations for pipes and connections, as well as passage holes in walls, roofs, and floors, utilizing measuring tools.

• Create openings for pipes and fittings using both hand and power tools.

• Cut and thread pipes using appropriate tools and machinery.

• Bend pipes to specified angles using bending machines or manual techniques.

• Assemble and install valves and pipe fittings made from various materials, employing hand and power tools.

• Connect pipes using screws, bolts, fittings, solder, or caulking.

• Test pipe systems for leaks by filling them with water or air and monitoring pressure gauges.

• Install and repair plumbing fixtures, including sinks, toilets, bathtubs, and water heaters.

• Maintain plumbing systems by replacing washers in leaky faucets, repairing burst pipes, and clearing clogged drains.

• May perform welding on fixtures attached to steel structures.

• Conduct backflow prevention tests.

• Execute additional related tasks as assigned.

• May engage in other classifications when incidental work is necessary for task completion.

• Completion of all required training as per governmental and managerial directives.

• Efficient and cost-effective execution of responsibilities.

• Timely and accurate completion of all departmental tasks.

• Professional interaction with a diverse range of individuals.

• Adherence to established safety protocols and best practices.

• Compliance with company Standard Operating Procedures and personnel policies.

• Ability to perform effectively under pressure.

Qualifications:

Required Skills and Experience:

• Minimum of four years of plumbing experience.

• Familiarity with pumps, pressure controls, sewer and water mains, and sprinkler systems.

• Ownership and maintenance of essential hand tools for plumbing tasks.

• Certification in backflow prevention testing.

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

• Compliance with physical and security requirements, including respirator qualifications.

• Capability to lift up to 50 lbs.

• Strong communication skills suitable for a service-oriented environment.

• Ability to pass background checks and drug testing as required.

• U.S. Citizenship.

Compensation:

$37.24/hour (Union position). This role offers rewarding work with purpose, supported by a comprehensive benefits package.
