Overview of the Role:

The Maintenance Plumber is responsible for the assembly, installation, and repair of pipes, fittings, and fixtures related to heating, water, or drainage systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assemble, install, and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures in accordance with specifications and plumbing regulations.

• Analyze building plans and working drawings to determine necessary tools and installation sequences.

• Inspect structures to identify potential obstructions that could compromise the integrity of the installation.

• Accurately locate and mark the positions for pipes and connections using measuring tools.

• Create openings for pipes and fittings using both hand and power tools.

• Cut and thread pipes using appropriate tools and machinery.

• Bend pipes to specified angles using bending machines or manual techniques.

• Assemble and install valves and fittings made from various materials, utilizing hand and power tools.

• Connect pipes using screws, bolts, fittings, solder, and other methods.

• Test pipe systems for leaks by filling them with water or air and monitoring pressure gauges.

• Install and repair plumbing fixtures, including sinks, toilets, bathtubs, and water heaters.

• Maintain plumbing systems by replacing worn washers, repairing burst pipes, and clearing clogged drains.

• Perform welding tasks on fixtures as necessary.

• Execute additional related duties as assigned.

• May engage in work across various classifications when incidental tasks are required.

Qualifications:

Required Experience and Skills:

• Minimum of four years of plumbing experience.

• Familiarity with pumps, pressure controls, sewer systems, and water mains.

• Possession of necessary hand tools for plumbing tasks.

• Certification in backflow prevention testing.

• Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.

• Ability to meet physical and security requirements as necessary.

• Capability to lift up to 50 lbs.

• Strong communication skills for a collaborative work environment.

• Successful completion of background checks and drug testing as required.

• U.S. Citizenship.

Compensation:

$37.24/hour (Union position). This role involves maintaining facilities and executing minor renovation projects.
