About the Diesel Mechanic Position

As a Diesel Mechanic with First Student, you will play a vital role in maintaining and repairing school buses to ensure vehicle readiness and safety. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with preventive maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual DOT maintenance inspections.
  • Diagnosing and performing all phases of vehicle and equipment repair, including brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, and transmissions.
  • Ensuring work orders are completed accurately.
  • Assisting with mobile emergency services.
Diesel Technician Qualifications
  • A valid driver's license is required; willingness to obtain a CDL while employed – We train.
  • At least 3 years of automotive or diesel maintenance and repair experience or technical school education.
  • Possess a mechanic's tool set.
  • Willingness to participate in ASE certification program. Training, testing, and bonuses provided.
  • Subject to DOT drug testing as a safety-sensitive employee. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason.
