We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team at First Student. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will play a critical role in maintaining and repairing our fleet of school buses to ensure vehicle readiness and safety.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead preventative maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual DOT maintenance inspections.
- Diagnose and perform all phases of vehicle and equipment repair, including brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, and transmissions.
- Ensure work orders are completed accurately.
- Assist with mobile emergency services.
- Valid driver's license required; willingness to obtain CDL B while employed - We train.
- At least 3 years of automotive or diesel maintenance and repair experience or technical school education.
- Possess a mechanic's tool set.
- Willingness to participate in the ASE certification program. Training, testing, and bonuses are provided.
- Subject to DOT drug testing and physical.
- $26 - $28 / hour based on experience and qualifications.
- An additional $.25 per hour for each ASE certification you possess or obtain.
- $2,500 sign-on bonus*.
- Company-paid ASE testing and training materials.
- Monday-Friday 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM full-time shift schedule and consistent, year-round work.
