Role Summary: Under the supervision of the Compliance Manager, the Compliance Specialist is tasked with reviewing clinical documentation, supporting Electronic Health Records (EHR), and assisting staff in adhering to agency compliance standards and policies.
Key Responsibilities: This position encompasses a variety of duties that may evolve over time. Responsibilities include:
- Understanding coding and billing requirements for Behavioral Health and Substance Use Treatment documentation.
- Possessing knowledge of Oregon Administrative Rules regarding clinical documentation for Behavioral Health and Addiction Treatment Services.
- Ensuring client records comply with quality and risk management standards through documentation reviews and audits.
- Providing backup support for protective service investigations.
- Advising staff on HIPAA requirements and medical record documentation standards.
- Offering technical assistance to end users while managing core responsibilities.
- Staying informed on federal, state, and local legal requirements and advising management on necessary actions.
- Building effective working relationships with agency staff to foster collaboration.
- Suggesting improvements to processes and tools that enhance operational quality and clinical efficiency.
- Collaborating with other programs to improve agency performance in quality and risk management.
- Performing additional tasks as assigned by the Compliance Manager.
Qualifications: Candidates must meet the following criteria:
Required:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Two years of auditing experience.
Preferred:
- General knowledge of compliance and state regulations.
Certificates and Licenses: A valid Oregon driver's license and an insurable driving record are required. Personal automobile insurance is necessary if transporting clients or conducting agency business using a personal vehicle.
