Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio is in search of a full-time (37.5 hours per week) Practical Nursing Specialist. This role is ideal for individuals who are dedicated to serving marginalized and medically underserved communities. This position is crucial for advancing our strategy to enhance health equity through comprehensive primary care services.

Qualifications You Will Bring

  • A strong desire to support medically underserved and marginalized populations.
  • A dedication to health equity and respect for all individuals.
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
  • A minimum of 4 years of clinical experience is required; experience in outpatient/office OBGYN settings is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver accurate client education, including guidance on prescribed medications and self-injection training.
  • Administer medications under the supervision of the Advanced Practice Nurse in accordance with your licensure.
  • Address phone inquiries and client care concerns requiring nursing judgment, and respond to electronic messages and tasks.
  • Collaborate with the APRN to maintain accurate pharmaceutical inventory.
  • Assist in managing monthly emergency supply inventory with the APRN.
  • Work with the Practice Manager to review and reconcile unprocessed lab reports.
  • Serve as the primary contact for blood collection related to clinical orders.
  • Conduct patient assessments as appropriate based on your licensure.
  • Assist with minor office procedures.
  • Act as a medical consultant to health center staff.
  • Supervise clinical services within the health center in collaboration with the Practice Manager and Site Supervisor.
  • Respond effectively to the needs of clinical staff and patients to ensure high-quality, safe, and patient-centered healthcare.
  • Maintain accurate records of client registrations, medical histories, lab results, and treatments.
  • Utilize the Electronic Health Record system competently.
  • Assist clients in completing necessary documentation.
  • Provide physical and emotional support to clients during examinations and treatments.
  • Ensure cleanliness and inventory management of lab and examination areas.
  • Consult with clinicians regarding client care and concerns as necessary.
  • Prepare clients for examinations and assist in the exam room as needed.
  • Understand and accurately explain informed consent processes.
  • Measure and document client height, weight, and blood pressure.
  • Prepare examination rooms and maintain cleanliness and inventory of all health center areas.
  • Handle medical waste in accordance with universal precautions.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues to ensure timely client visits.
  • Maintain confidentiality and approach sensitive issues with clients in a nonjudgmental manner.
  • Participate in risk and quality management initiatives, adhering to HIPAA, OSHA, and CLIA regulations.
  • Stay current with in-service training, workshops, seminars, and staff meetings.
