Behavioral Health Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Behavioral Health Specialist to join our team at the Behavioral Health Unit (BHU). As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support to individuals with mental health needs.
Key Responsibilities- Assist patients with daily living activities, promoting independence and dignity.
- Provide direct patient care, including diagnostic procedures and therapeutic interventions, under the supervision of licensed nursing staff.
- Observe and record patient behavior, reporting any changes in physical, mental, or emotional condition to nursing staff and suggesting modifications to the treatment plan.
- Provide crisis intervention and support to patients and families, maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment.
- Facilitate psychoeducational groups, promoting patient engagement and empowerment.
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred; Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare, Psychology, Counseling, or related field preferred.
- At least six months of experience working with the population served, or Peer Support Specialist Training, or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
- Certifications: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS within 30 days of hire), American Heart Association First Aid (within 30 days of hire), and Handle With Care required within 90 days of hire.
- Licenses: Nursing Assistant; for CNA/MHA, must have and maintain North Carolina Certified Nursing Assistant.
