Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Benefit and Eligibility Worker to join our team at the Oregon Department of Human Services. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in determining eligibility for individuals and families in need of medical, food, cash, and childcare benefits.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough interviews with applicants to assess their eligibility for benefits.
  • Review and analyze complex information to make accurate and timely eligibility determinations.
  • Communicate eligibility decisions to applicants in a clear and compassionate manner.
  • Provide person-centered services with a trauma-informed approach to identify needs and provide support.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure accurate and timely eligibility determinations across the state.
Requirements
  • Two years of experience determining eligibility for an agency program by interviewing to assess the needs of clients and interpreting and applying the policies, rules, and guidelines applicable to the client's situation.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience relative to the class concept.
