The Clinical Nurse Specialist at North Oaks Medical Center is fundamentally accountable for the care of patients. The Clinical Nurse Specialist is committed to adhering to the Standards of Practice of the organization.

As a vital member of the healthcare team, the Clinical Nurse Specialist is tasked with delivering exceptional nursing care in accordance with established standards.

This position will uphold the mission and objectives of Nursing Services and serve as a resource for fellow healthcare professionals. Responsibilities include ensuring quality patient care and fostering effective communication among staff, physicians, other departments, patients, and their families.

Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program.

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

A current RN license is mandatory. Membership in a professional nursing organization is encouraged.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to stand for extended periods. Lifting and transporting patients is necessary. Manual dexterity and motor coordination are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care.
A. Employ the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) for each patient individually.
B. Assist with quality assurance audits.
C. Administer medications as prescribed by physicians.
D. Document patient responses to medications and procedures accurately.
E. Monitor patients receiving intravenous conscious sedation in accordance with policy.

  • Administer blood products, nutritional support, and chemotherapy.

B. Comply with hospital guidelines for administering nutritional support and chemotherapy.

Adhere to North Oaks Health System's Compliance Program and all applicable regulatory guidelines.Comply with the Nurse Practice Act and the regulations set forth by the State Board of Nursing.
ADDITIONAL:
Assessment of Adult Surgical Patients.

Conduct assessments and care planning for pre/post-operative surgical patients, as well as trauma and stroke patients, including diagnostic or therapeutic interventions.

Additionally, assess and plan care for less acute telemetry patients.
Charge Nurse responsibilities will include completing ACLS certification.
Maintain current CPR certification.
Complete annual Competency Lab requirements.

Proficient in utilizing various healthcare information systems, including but not limited to: EPIC, HBOC, Hill-Rom Composer system, Net Learning, AYS, PAR Excellence, and Pyxis.

Assist with the insertion and management of central lines and chest tubes.
Access Lifeport as needed.
Utilize various medical equipment effectively.
Complete an approved IV course.
Demonstrate knowledge of individual surgeon preferences.
