Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care in the scrub role, assisting the RN with circulating duties as delegated.
  • Collaborate with the Core Leader, OR to provide orientation to new staff on instrumentation, equipment, supplies, operative procedures, and surgeon preferences for assigned surgical specialties.
  • Maintain, evaluate, and revise instrument sets, surgical supplies, and equipment, and initiate orders for repair or purchase in collaboration with the Nurse Core Leader.
  • Ensure a safe environment for patients during the intraoperative phase of surgical intervention.
  • Assist with turnover of the OR suite.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of department and team goals and objectives.
  • Participate in team and staff meetings, inservices, and quality assurance audits.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of an accredited program in Surgical Technology required.
  • 1-2 years of O.R. experience as a surgical technologist in an acute care operating room, including major surgical specialties, preferred.
  • CST - Certified Surgical Technologist preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of surgical specialties, instruments, techniques, procedures, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Scrub role competence.
  • Ability to teach, adapt to change, and maintain emotional control in stressful situations.
Compensation

This position has a hiring range of $48.99.
