Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Retail Service Team Member to join our team at Michaels Arts and Crafts. As a key member of our store team, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer service, coordinating events, and maintaining a clean and organized store environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide fast and friendly customer service, helping customers find products and solutions to meet their needs.
  • Coordinate and facilitate events, including kids' birthday parties and craft classes, to create a fun and engaging experience for guests.
  • Maintain a clean and organized store environment, including setting up and breaking down events, and adhering to company standards.
  • Assist with merchandise duties, including stocking and recovering shelves, and completing operational tasks as needed.
  • Participate in daily store cleanliness activities, including sweeping, vacuuming, and dusting.
  • Engage with clients of all ages, from 4 to 94+, by creating an environment of fun and creativity.
  • Communicate events with clients and store team members, and complete administrative tasks as needed.
Requirements
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to remain standing for long periods of time and move throughout the store.
  • Regular bending, lifting, carrying, reaching, and stretching.
  • Lifting heavy boxes and accessing high shelves by ladder or similar equipment.
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts, including nights, weekends, and early mornings.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous retail or customer service experience preferred.

  • Ability to handle job stress and interact effectively with others, including guests of all ages and co-workers.
  • Excellent people skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Experience working with children and children's events.
  • Good communication skills, including written, verbal, and nonverbal communication, as well as listening skills.
  • Organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and creative problem-solving skills.
Work Environment

Our store is a public retail setting with a climate-controlled environment. Some stock rooms may not be climate-controlled, and some outdoor work may be required to retrieve shopping carts or unload trucks. The frame shop contains glass cutters and heat presses.
