Advocate Aurora Health is in search of a per diem / prn Radiology Imaging Specialist for a flexible role.

Position Overview:

The Radiology Imaging Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality imaging services while ensuring patient safety and comfort. This position is ideal for those who thrive in a dynamic environment and are committed to excellence in patient care.


Key Responsibilities:

Requisition Management:
1) Review and assess requisitions for imaging procedures to gather essential details regarding the requested procedure, patient’s condition, and any special instructions.
2) Engage with patients prior to procedures to collect relevant medical histories and document findings.
3) Screen female patients of child-bearing age for potential pregnancy and record relevant information.

Patient Interaction:
1) Strive to understand and meet the needs of patients, providing reassurance and clarity throughout the imaging process.
2) Introduce yourself and explain the procedure to each patient, aiming to alleviate anxiety and encourage cooperation.

Procedure Execution and Safety Protocols:
1) Select appropriate imaging film and apply necessary markers.
2) Utilize lead shielding and protective apparel to safeguard unaffected body areas; ensure proper collimation.
3) Position imaging equipment accurately to capture clear, diagnostic-quality images.
4) Demonstrate proficiency in positioning anatomical structures and adapt techniques to accommodate varying patient conditions.
5) Assess patient conditions to determine optimal exposure settings for imaging.

Collaboration and Support:
1) Exhibit a willingness to assist colleagues in various capacities, including medical assistants and front desk staff.
2) Utilize time effectively and volunteer for additional responsibilities as needed.

Compliance and Safety:
1) Maintain current CPR certification to enhance patient safety.
2) Operate all imaging equipment in accordance with established safety protocols.
3) Adhere to Universal Precautions to minimize exposure to bodily fluids.
4) Ensure that licensure remains up-to-date.

Qualifications:

Education:
Graduate of an accredited radiology technology program.

Skills and Competencies:
General knowledge of radiographic equipment, including portable units; eligibility for IDNS registry; CPR certification required.

Physical Requirements:
Able to adapt to flexible working hours; capable of lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 50 lbs. with assistance; effective communication skills are essential. This role requires the ability to recognize and respond to the needs of patients across all age groups.

For patient handling, the ability to lift up to 35 pounds independently is necessary. For lifts exceeding this weight, appropriate equipment and assistance should be utilized.
