We are seeking a skilled Substitute Teacher to join our team at Cleveland City Schools. This role is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about education and making a positive impact on students' lives.

About the Role

This is a part-time position, with hours varying depending on assignment. As a Substitute Teacher, you will provide instruction, encouragement, and support to students in various grade levels (K-12). Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Reporting to the office upon arrival and checking out at the end of the day
  • Meeting and instructing assigned classes in the locations and at the times specified
  • Creating a classroom environment that is conducive to learning
  • Maintaining accurate, complete, and correct records of the day
  • Planning, supervising, and providing guidance for students, teacher aids, and volunteers

In addition to these key responsibilities, you will also be expected to:

  • Use personal judgment and discretion in supervising the class
  • Assist students with any help they may need with their work
  • Tidy up the classroom after the day has commenced
  • Document any discrepancies that may have occurred throughout the day
  • Follow lesson plans and make notations

We are looking for candidates who possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication. A valid teaching certificate and completion of high school diploma or GED are required.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to meet the following requirements:

  • Completion of High School Diploma/GED, credit consolidated at one four-year regionally accredited college and university, and/or hold a valid teaching certificate
  • Completion of the required Global Compliance Network training modules
  • Demonstrated record of good attendance and punctuality
  • Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication

Please note that you must meet criminal history background requirements, including FBI Fingerprint and Drug clearance.

Compensation

The compensation for this role varies based on educational qualifications. We offer competitive pay rates for certified teachers with teaching licenses ($100.00 per day), bachelor's degree holders or higher ($90.00 per day), and high school graduates, GED holders, or associate degree holders or higher ($85.00 per day).
