Job Summary

The Nursing Assistant in the Progressive Care Unit is responsible for providing direct patient care and performing various duties to ensure optimal patient care under the supervision of a professional nurse.

Responsibilities
  • Administer direct patient care, including feeding, bathing, dressing, grooming, and moving patients
  • Perform duties such as changing linens and ensuring a clean and safe environment
  • Provide interpersonal relationships in a manner that projects a positive image of the department and hospital
  • Ensure that contacts with other healthcare members are friendly, helpful, and courteous
Qualifications
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Completion of North Carolina (NC) Board of Nursing approved Nursing Assistant course
Work Environment

The Nursing Assistant in the Progressive Care Unit will be exposed to blood-borne pathogens, airborne pathogens, and other infectious diseases requiring the use of protective equipment. The work environment may also include exposure to other hazards such as radiation, toxic waste, and chemical hazards based on the department.

Physical Requirements
  • Standing, sitting, walking, and working throughout the shift
  • Lifting, pulling, turning, and pushing patients daily
  • Ability to use appropriate Safe-Patient Handling equipment
