About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Furnace Operations Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our manufacturing team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of our furnaces.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manufacturing Process Optimization: Maximize furnace life through regular inspections, repairs, and maintenance, as well as proper operational control.
  • Leadership and Training: Lead and manage furnace cold repair and rebuild efforts, train and develop furnace technicians to ensure stable and consistent furnace operations.
  • Supply Chain Management: Order and inventory supplies needed to maintain furnace and forehearth area.
  • Quality Control: Monitor the condition of all equipment in the batch, furnace, and forehearth area, and initiate necessary repairs to meet performance and production goals.
  • Process Improvement: Trial new raw materials, gather data to support or disprove merit, and ensure melting temperature profile is maintained in the furnace and forehearth.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and troubleshoot system from batch truck and rail unloading, batch mixing, transporting, and charging through the furnace and forehearth.
  • Gas and Oxygen Management: Maintain proper gas to oxygen ratios in the furnace and forehearths.
  • Batch Formula Management: Keep and input all batch formulas, verify calibration on batch weighing system.
  • Cleaning and Maintenance: Profile and clean gas/oxy burners and forehearth pencil burners, operate, calibrate, and maintain electric boost system.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure opacity reading is qualified.
Requirements
  • Education: A bachelor's degree in ceramic, mechanical, or chemical engineering is preferred.
  • Experience: Ten years of minimum furnace and manufacturing experience.
  • Skills: Working knowledge of SPC and six sigma methodology, Wonderware, Noltec, North American, and Eclipse systems, excellent communication skills, verbal and written, working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office products.
