Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of EHS Specialists, focusing on project management and objective setting.
  • Oversee the rehabilitation process for injured employees and collaborate with occupational health professionals for ergonomic assessments.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant safety regulations, including OSHA, DNR, and EPA standards across all facilities.
  • Support environmental compliance efforts, including air quality permits, hazardous waste management, stormwater controls, and tank regulations.
  • Prepare and submit annual compliance reports to regulatory bodies.
  • Develop and implement the annual safety training agenda and conduct educational sessions.
  • Revise and uphold the Emergency Response Plan, ensuring readiness for potential incidents.
  • Perform safety audits and inspections to assess compliance with safety protocols, PPE usage, and emergency procedures.
  • Coordinate with external security services to enhance workplace safety.
  • Administer the Worker's Compensation Program effectively.
  • Create and manage employee incentive programs to promote safety awareness.
  • Set and communicate departmental goals and achievements to foster a proactive safety culture.
  • Engage in Continuous Improvement initiatives to enhance safety practices.
  • Be available for consultation and emergency response outside of regular working hours.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety or Environmental Science.
  • Certification as an Emergency Medical Responder or the ability to obtain certification within the first year of employment.

Experience Requirements:

  • A minimum of one year of experience in the safety sector, preferably within a manufacturing environment.

Additional Considerations:

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Flexibility in working hours is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is necessary.
  • Commitment to ongoing education and training to enhance knowledge in the EHS field.
