Job Summary

The Occupational Health Nurse Specialist will provide employees with access to medical and health services to ensure optimal safe, efficient, and productive operations and optimal employee relations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in occupational health nursing, medical assessment, emergency medical care, clinic work, and/or public health nursing.

Key Responsibilities

Provide nursing care for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses via symptomatic treatment, medical assessment, first aid, emergency transport, medical referrals, and appropriate follow-up and rehabilitation.
Provide and coordinate pre-placement physical exams, ongoing health assessments, and employee health counseling and wellness coaching.
Administer the Hearing Conservation Program via audiometric testing, health education, referral, and follow-up to appropriate resources, counsel, and instruction on personal protective equipment, equipment selection, and evaluation of hearing protection compliance.
Evaluate visual capabilities of employees to determine if they can perform the primary and essential functions required for the job according to cGMP standards.
Provide occupational health services to plasma center locations throughout the US and perform telephonic triage of injury events to determine the level of care needed for the injured worker.
Collaborate with Health Management Services management in the formation of expense and capital budgeting for all Occupational Health Department activities.
Conduct new hire assessments and orientations as needed and serve as a rotating on-call staff member for all US-based operations.

Requirements

Graduation from an accredited Bachelor of Science or Associate Degree in nursing program and state licensure is required.
A minimum of 3-5 years of related experience in occupational health nursing, medical assessment, emergency medical care, clinic work, and/or public health nursing is preferred.
Certification via the American Board of Occupational Health Nursing COHN-S or COHN is preferred.

Work Environment

The Occupational Health Nurse Specialist will work in an office and clinical environment with exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms. Personal protective equipment is required, such as protective eyewear and gloves. The ideal candidate will be able to communicate complex information and ideas so others will understand and work with diverse groups to obtain consensus on issues.
