This role involves overseeing, reconciling, and managing records for various general ledger accounts. The expected workload averages between 20-30 hours weekly, subject to variation.

  • Oversees daily banking operations, ensuring sufficient funds for transactions.
  • Handles stop payments and maintains records for unclaimed property.
  • Prepares and inputs journal entries into the general ledger.
  • Generates monthly journal entries for bank-related transactions including interest and service charges.
  • Monitors and reconciles entries within accounts payable and receivable systems.
  • Reconciles accounts receivable across various departmental systems.
  • Conducts research and reconciliation on general ledger accounts.
  • Reconciles bank statements accurately.
  • Maintains records related to various taxes and fees, preparing monthly reports as necessary.
  • Provides backup support for Accounts Payable and Receivable as required.
  • Assists in budget preparation and year-end audits by compiling necessary documentation.
  • Contributes to the preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR).
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines

An Associate's degree in accounting or business, accompanied by three (3) years of relevant experience in an accounting setting.

Experience may substitute for education, up to two (2) years (i.e., 5 years of experience without formal education).

Additional education may substitute for experience, up to two (2) years (i.e., 1 year of experience with a Bachelor's degree).

Knowledge of:
  • Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Governmental accounting practices and methodologies.
  • Understanding of governmental budgeting and fund accounting, along with banking terminology.
  • City ordinances and policies related to financial operations.
Skills in:
  • Utilizing financial software for data management and report generation.
  • Building and maintaining effective professional relationships.
  • Interpreting financial documents and reports for personal and professional growth.
  • Drafting reports and official correspondence.
  • Applying mathematical skills for account reconciliation and financial calculations.
  • Understanding and applying accounting principles and procedures effectively.
  • Identifying discrepancies and determining their sources.
  • Communicating clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Possession of a valid Class C Texas Driver's License.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT

This position involves various physical activities including standing, sitting, walking, lifting, and other movements.

Schedule: Anticipated average of 20-30 hours per week, with potential for additional hours as needed.

Compensation: $26.63 per hour.
