POSITION OVERVIEW

The Psychiatric APRN / NP plays a crucial role in delivering both psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy to individuals with behavioral health challenges. This includes the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients dealing with mental health and substance use issues. Collaboration with primary care providers and other healthcare professionals is essential to ensure comprehensive patient care.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducts assessments and consultations to address and stabilize urgent issues.
  • Provides guidance and follow-up for behavioral health personnel regarding the necessity of psychotropic medications.
  • Evaluates treatment plans for patients in specialized behavioral health observation units.
  • Engages in case discussions and planning for patients undergoing behavioral health interventions.
  • Delivers thorough behavioral health evaluations and ongoing care.
  • Collaborates with behavioral health staff on patient diagnoses and treatment strategies.
  • Participates in various therapeutic modalities as dictated by service requirements.
  • Engages in medical and behavioral health rounds as designated.
  • Delegates tasks to team members as appropriate.
  • Facilitates group therapy sessions focused on medication adherence.
  • Completes additional responsibilities as assigned by the Supervising Psychiatrist.
  • Maintains all necessary credentials, including CPR certification, and attends required training and meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, licensed to practice in the relevant state.
  • Demonstrated clinical proficiency and leadership capabilities, including decision-making and communication skills.
  • A minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience in a behavioral health environment is preferred, particularly in correctional settings.
