Monday through Friday 3:00 PM to 1:00 AM

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Fleet Operations Manager plays a crucial role in advocating for both the drivers and the organization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Engage proactively with Planners, Customer Service Representatives, and Drivers.
  • Foster relationships with Drivers to comprehend their expectations and preferences.
  • Oversee revenue and mileage objectives for each driver and the fleet collectively, providing guidance to drivers who are not meeting performance metrics.
  • Monitor MPG performance for individual drivers and the fleet, coaching those who fall short of expectations.
  • Support Drivers in achieving productive weeks and weekends.
  • Assess which drivers may require termination due to unsatisfactory performance.
  • Accurately and promptly update Estimated Times of Arrival (ETAs).
  • Timely update Total Mail records.
  • Manage phone communications and messages effectively.
  • Notify Customer Service Representatives and Planners when a Driver is delayed or has been stationary for an extended period.
  • Ensure that Drivers operate safely.
  • Conduct check-ins with all Drivers by 9:00 AM.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Focus on ensuring productive starts to each week (Monday mornings).
  • Assist Drivers in understanding their plans and looking ahead to ensure a successful week.
  • Promote loads to the Drivers.
  • Ensure Drivers accept assigned loads.
  • Establish clear expectations for Drivers upon their onboarding at Venture Logistics.
  • Guide, mentor, and lead Drivers.
  • Accurately and promptly update Expiration dates and Driver Statuses.
  • Collaborate with Safety and Maintenance departments to ensure safe equipment.
  • Utilize Trip Alert to swiftly identify potential issues.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent industry experience.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Transportation, Business, or a related field, or a combination of education and experience that provides a comparable background.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
  • Familiarity with the Transportation, Operations, and/or Logistics sectors.
  • Ability to diplomatically resolve conflicts and issues.
  • Capacity to accept constructive criticism positively.
  • Proficient in TMW Office Suite.
