Licensed Practical Nurse

About the Role:
The State of Indiana is seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team on a seasonal basis. As an LPN, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prioritize and organize daily patient care activities
- Make patient care assignments and collaborate with clinical staff to develop treatment plans
- Assess and document patients' physical and psychosocial status from admission to discharge
- Direct support staff to coordinate workflow and communicate problems to unit supervisors
- Administer medications and treatments according to hospital policies and procedures
- Develop and implement nursing care plans for acute medical problems
- Complete required documentation of nursing notes, transfer forms, and other records
- Educate patients and family members regarding medication, procedures, and treatment goals and objectives
- Respond and intervene in emergency situations and agitated patients
- Provide orientation and support to staff on the unit
- Ensure proper safety and infection control standards are met for the unit
Requirements:
- Associate degree in Nursing from an accredited college
- License to practice nursing in the State of Indiana as a Licensed Practical Nurse
- CPR certification
- Current behavioral intervention training
- Proficiency in computer skills and ability to learn other programs used in maintaining electronic medical records
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to understand and apply medical and facility terminology
- Ability to use MS Office applications and electronic patient records
- Ability to serve as a patient advocate
- Knowledge of and ability to interpret nursing and facility policies and procedures
What We Offer:
This seasonal position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period. The State of Indiana is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
