Job Description

Madison Area Technical College is seeking a highly motivated and qualified candidate to teach part-time courses in the Medical Coding Specialist program. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering high-quality instruction, assessing student learning, and participating in college service activities.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective learning strategies and environments for students in the Medical Coding Specialist program.
  • Deliver instruction of high quality, including lectures, discussions, and hands-on activities.
  • Assess student learning and provide feedback to students.
  • Participate in college service activities, including in-service meetings, convocation training, and staff development training.
  • Assist students with problems and provide guidance and support.
  • Maintain competencies as an instructor, aligned with the Faculty Quality Assurance System.
Requirements
  • Technical diploma in Medical Coding and one of the following coding certifications: American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) or American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
  • Expectation to obtain an Associate's degree in health information technology within three years of hire.
  • Expectation to obtain certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) within three years of hire.
  • Two years or 4,000 hours of related work experience.
