About the Position
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research Assistant to join our team at the University of Minnesota.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to an ongoing research project focused on investigating the effects of racial school segregation in the Twin Cities on students' later life outcomes. As part of this position, you will work closely with a workgroup of faculty, staff, and students to conduct literature reviews, extract and organize data, acquire datasets, and perform descriptive data analysis.
The ideal candidate will have experience with data analysis and basic statistical coding in a programming language such as R, Stata, or SAS, as well as experience manipulating data in Excel. A Bachelor's degree is required, and strong organizational, logical, and communication skills are essential.
Estimated Salary: $40,000 - $60,000 per annum, commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities
- Conduct literature reviews and assist in extracting and organizing data
- Acquire datasets and help submit data agreements
- Clean data, create variables, code, and document data decisions
- Merge datasets and perform descriptive data analysis
- Visualize results and write reports
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field
- Experience with data analysis and basic statistical coding
- Proficiency in Excel and ability to learn new software
- Strong organizational, logical, and communication skills
