Job Title: Custodial Worker II

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Custodial Worker II to join our team at Stephen F. Austin State University. As a Custodial Worker II, you will be responsible for performing routine cleaning and housekeeping duties in university buildings, ensuring a clean and safe environment for students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sweep, mop, scrub, strip, and polish baseboards, floors, and stairs.
  • Sweep, vacuum, and clean rugs and carpets.
  • Dust or wash furniture.
  • Carry out and dispose of trash.
  • Clean restroom fixtures, walls, and floors.
  • Clean windows and door glass.
  • Wash blackboards and water fountains.
  • Check and order supplies.
  • May act as Leadperson at special times.
  • Perform a variety of routine custodial and cleaning tasks as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Must possess ability to read and write.
  • Physical ability to perform a variety of routine manual tasks in the care, cleaning, and general maintenance of buildings and equipment.
  • Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions from supervisors.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with fellow employees.
  • Ability to supervise the work of others when needed.

Working Conditions:

This is a security-sensitive position subject to criminal record check. This is a safety-sensitive position subject to drug and alcohol testing. This is an IT-sensitive position subject to the Computer and Network Security policy.

Benefits:

This position is eligible for participation in the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) retirement plan, subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
