We are excited to reopen Wayfinder Hotel Newport, a boutique hotel created by a group of local chefs, bartenders, artists, designers, and entrepreneurs who are proud to call Newport, RI home. Our hotel boasts 187 rooms with 30 deluxe suites, a restaurant, and 2600 sq ft of event space.

Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Culinary Team Member to join our kitchen team. This individual must be creative, motivated, and passionate about growing their talents in the kitchen.

Successful candidates will have previous experience working in a professional kitchen environment, with a strong desire to learn, develop skills, and work with our culinary leadership team to create menus that reflect seasonal availability and concept of the restaurant.

Your Role:

As a Culinary Team Member, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop your knowledge and skills in various cooking procedures and methods (grill, sauté, and fry)
  • Experience using knives and various kitchen equipment
  • Reach and recreate recipes
  • Consistently prepare high-quality food
  • Minimize food waste through cross-utilization
  • Create workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
  • Prepare ingredients for cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat)
  • Maintain a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
  • Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
  • Be responsible for the quality of ingredients

Qualifications:

Previous experience in a luxury hotel or upscale restaurant is required. Experience with banquet preparation and service delivery is also necessary. You must be able to stand for extended periods, lift and carry items up to 50 pounds, and work on feet for an extended period. Strong time management skills and ability to communicate effectively are also essential.

Compensation Range:

The compensation for this position is $19.00/Hr. - $23.00/Hr. based on qualifications and experience.
