Fleet Maintenance Technician

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough inspections on all company vehicles, including tractors, trailers, and light-duty vehicles, adhering to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Execute preventive maintenance checks in line with company protocols on all fleet assets to ensure optimal performance.
  • Carry out necessary repairs to enhance safety and reliability across the fleet.
  • Document and manage work orders, maintaining accurate maintenance records for all vehicles.
  • Utilize the company's maintenance management software for efficient work order processing.
  • Perform regular maintenance tasks, including oil changes and equipment assessments.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical issues as needed.
  • Assist in the procurement and inventory management of parts, ensuring proper allocation to work orders.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization within the workshop.
  • Supervise and guide other workshop staff as required.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • A minimum of two years of technical training combined with two years of hands-on experience in fleet maintenance, or four years of relevant experience.
  • Completion of Medium/Heavy Duty truck technical training is essential.
  • ASE certification is a prerequisite.
  • Physical capability to lift 50 pounds or more.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • CDL Class A license is preferred.
  • 609 HVAC Certification is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of brake inspection standards and practices.
  • Familiarity with computer-based diagnostic tools for OEMs and component manufacturers.
  • Technicians must possess their own tools; major shop equipment and diagnostic tools will be provided by the company.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
  • Understanding of FMCSRs and DOT Compliance is necessary.
  • Awareness of OSHA regulations is beneficial.
  • Air brake certification or the ability to obtain one is required.
