Key Responsibilities

  • Install, monitor, inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain the reliability of electrical and electronic control systems, process equipment, and AC/DC utilities
  • Diagnose and resolve intricate issues related to electric arc furnace (EAF) and ladle furnace (LF) operations, power supply inconsistencies, and substation challenges
  • Familiarize yourself with various electromechanical starters and motors, utilizing advanced electronic interface boards, variable frequency drives (VFDs), programmable logic controllers (PLCs), human-machine interfaces (HMIs), instrumentation, and controllers
  • Source supplies and spare parts to ensure timely and effective equipment maintenance
  • Update and maintain manuals, schematics, maintenance logs, and other essential documentation
  • Troubleshoot all aspects of medium and high voltage equipment in an industrial steel production environment
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
  • Exhibit reliability in attendance and work completion, demonstrating flexibility to meet operational needs
  • Engage in CMC's Safety Programs and actively promote a culture of safety
  • Adhere to safety protocols to prevent workplace injuries, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Understand startup, shutdown, and emergency procedures
  • Maintain cleanliness in your work area and surroundings

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical maintenance
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems and equipment
  • Proficient in industrial electrical repairs, including troubleshooting and repairing AC/DC drives and motors, PLCs, and 480 Volt three-phase electrical systems
  • Must possess basic electrical hand tools, including voltage and current meters
  • Extensive experience in maintaining electrical control and distribution systems, as well as analog and digital circuits
  • Proficient in relay and ladder logic maintenance, industrial communication networks, instrumentation, and automation control systems
  • Experience or formal education in PLCs, with the ability to navigate block logic, ladder logic, or other digital logic interfaces
  • Training and/or experience in instrument and sensor calibration
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic circuit components
  • Willingness to work 12-hour shifts, including overtime, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to work in environments with extreme temperatures, chemicals, dust, fumes, uneven surfaces, loud noise, elevated work areas, and confined spaces
  • Capability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to stand for the duration of the shift, with frequent physical activities such as walking, climbing stairs, or reaching to operate equipment
  • Strong communication skills, with proficiency in reading, speaking, and understanding English

Educational Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED is required
  • Completion of an instrumentation, electronics, or mechatronics program from an accredited trade school is preferred
