Job Summary:

As an EMT-Basic with Acadian Ambulance Service, you will provide critical care to patients in emergency situations. Your primary responsibility will be to administer basic life support care, including patient assessment, treatment, and transportation to medical facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patient Assessment and Care: Conduct thorough examinations of patients to identify signs and symptoms of illness or injury, and provide prompt and efficient basic life support care within the limits of licensure or certification.
  • Transportation and Transfer: Safely transport patients to medical facilities, and transfer patient care information to receiving personnel at the destination.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Accurately document all aspects of patient condition and treatment on EMS run reports, and complete other patient documentation and forms as required.
  • Equipment Maintenance and Safety: Conduct regular unit inventory and equipment testing to ensure all equipment is present, clean, and in proper working order, and report any needed repairs to maintenance departments and supervisors.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Communicate effectively with patients, co-workers, emergency service providers, healthcare workers, and the general public, and maintain a professional and respectful demeanor at all times.
Qualifications:
  • Current EMT Course Enrollment: Must be currently enrolled in an EMT course.
  • High School Diploma or GED: Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification and Licensure: Must obtain National and/or State certification as an Emergency Medical Technician, and hold a current and valid state-issued driver's license.
  • CPR Certification: Must hold current CPR certification as established by the American Heart Association.
Interpersonal Requirements:
  • Professionalism and Respect: Maintain a professional and respectful demeanor at all times, and demonstrate good personal motivation and a sense of ownership of job tasks and results.
  • Urgency and Efficiency: Demonstrate a sense of urgency for all work performed, and maintain a high level of efficiency in completing tasks and responsibilities.
