Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Content Writer and Editor to join our team at Go Fish Digital. As a key member of our content creation team, you will be responsible for crafting high-quality, engaging content that resonates with our target audience.

Your primary focus will be on researching and writing a wide range of topics, from fitness to finance, and formatting text and images in WordPress for publication. You will also be responsible for editing content drafted by others for grammar, spelling, and flow, and implementing best practices for newly created content as well as existing content under review.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong passion for research and a capability to write in different tones and voices. You will also need to be highly active on social media, with a deep understanding of trends and what people want. Experience using a web Content Management System (WordPress a plus) and a portfolio of consistent writing for the web is highly desirable.

We are looking for someone who is disciplined, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as part of a team. If you have a degree in a field that has a focus on writing (e.g. English, Journalism, Communication, History, etc) and are able to work above and beyond our core hours of 8:00 to 4:00 each day when needed, we would love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research and write a wide range of topics, from fitness to finance
  • Format text and images in WordPress for publication
  • Edit content drafted by others for grammar, spelling, and flow
  • Implement best practices for newly created content as well as existing content under review
  • Work with a number of tools to help optimize content to rank highly in the Google search results
  • Match the necessary persona and voice for the various clients we work with
  • Have strong problem-solving skills - if you don't know something, but it needs to be done, you will do everything you can to quickly find a solution

  • Prior work with SEO or content tools such as Moz, SEMrush, MarketMuse, etc.

What We Need:

Please also include a writing sample. This can be a newspaper article, short story, blog post, etc. - anything that you feel is a good piece of work, and that gives us a sense of your writing ability.
