- Write engaging and informative articles that meet the needs of our readers.
- Produce 10 stories per week, meeting tight deadlines and managing your own time efficiently.
- Develop relationships with sources across beats, including educators, administrators, and community leaders.
- Take photos to complement your written work and enhance the overall reader experience.
- Stay up-to-date with AP Style and content management systems to ensure high-quality content.
- Experience covering city council meetings and school board meetings.
- Confidence in researching data and experience with data visualization.
- Previous experience writing for a professional publication or school newspaper.
- Ability to work independently and manage your own time efficiently.
- Availability on weekdays from 8:30 AM to 5 PM, plus evenings and weekends as needed to cover meetings and breaking news.
- Proficiency in AP Style and content management systems.
- Starting hourly rate of $21.64 ($45,000 annually) or more with experience.
- $135 monthly stipend for gas, mileage, and tolls.
- Up to 80 hours of vacation and 80 hours of personal/sick time (prorated) in your first year.
- 10 paid holidays per year, plus a paid day off for your birthday.
