We are seeking a Clinical Nutrition Specialist to join our team of committed caregivers. Essential Duties:

  • Deliver direct patient care utilizing medical nutrition therapy for designated patient groups.
  • Evaluate patients for signs of nutritional deficiencies and conduct nutrition-focused physical assessments. Review electronic health records to assess clinical conditions. Determine nutritional requirements, including caloric intake, protein, fluid, and electrolytes; identify and document malnutrition; collaborate with healthcare providers to address the nutritional needs of patients receiving various forms of nutrition.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive nutritional care plan, communicate the plan effectively, establish a follow-up system, and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Authorize dietary plans, oral supplements, and tube feeding protocols.
  • Provide counseling and educational services to patients with conditions requiring nutritional intervention.
  • Contribute to Cleveland Clinic-sponsored educational initiatives for healthcare professionals, students, and the public.
  • Engage in program development aimed at promoting and expanding departmental services and generating revenue.
  • Market services to potential and existing referral sources; develop and implement services based on client needs.
  • Participate in professional development activities.
  • Represent Cleveland Clinic in matters related to nutrition.
  • Adhere to all regulatory and professional standards, including those set by CMS, The Joint Commission, and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Follow established departmental policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in nutrition, dietetics, or a closely related field. Completion of a Dietetic Internship or accredited program.

Licensure/Certification:

  • Maintain a current license to practice dietetics in the State of Ohio (LD) and active certification as a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist (RD/RDN).

Work Complexity:

  • Requires critical thinking, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently or with minimal supervision.
  • Must be capable of functioning in a high-stress environment and taking appropriate actions.

Experience:

Minimum of one year of experience as a Registered Dietitian in clinical nutrition.

  • Successful completion of the Cleveland Clinic Dietetic Internship Program or equivalent may substitute for the experience requirement.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to navigate extensively to provide services to a large patient population across various settings. Must possess manual dexterity to perform computer entries and nutrition-focused physical assessments.
  • Must have the physical capability to measure and weigh patients who are able to ambulate.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Adhere to standard precautions and utilize personal protective equipment as required.
