About the Role:

The Surgical Technologist opportunity is available in our Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) Operating Room at MD Anderson. As a Surgical Technologist, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team performing over 15,000 surgical cases each year in more than 30 operating rooms.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare all supplies and equipment necessary for cases as indicated on preference cards.
  • Assemble, inspect, and connect equipment to ensure safe, clean, and correct functioning.
  • Initiate patient safety measures and follow sponge, instrument, and sharps count policy and procedure.
  • Communicate effectively with the circulator to ensure care of the patient and rhythm of the case progresses.
  • Remain actively engaged in surgery, focused on the operative field, and anticipate the needs of the surgeon.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) by the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) or by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
  • At least one year of recent surgical technologist experience.
