Matrimonial Attorney Job

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced matrimonial attorney to join our team at The Colwell Law Group.

About the Role:

  • This is an on-site position in Saratoga Springs, New York. A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle are required.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for handling matrimonial and family law cases, including divorce, child custody, support, and other family/matrimonial matters.
  • As a lead matrimonial lawyer, you will drive results for clients, build strong client relationships, and contribute to the growth of the family law practice.

Key Responsibilities:

Case Management
  • Manage multiple cases simultaneously, ensuring that all client needs and case demands are addressed.
  • Meet minimum billed/collected hours goal.
  • Use case management software to track case progress and deadlines.
Legal Representation
  • Advise clients on legal rights, obligations, and strategies, ensuring they are fully informed about their options.
  • Represent clients in court, hearings, and settlement negotiations.
  • Prepare legal documents such as discovery, motions, pleadings, agreements, and settlements.
Client Management
  • Serve as the primary contact for clients, managing client expectations and providing strategic counsel.
  • Maintain clear, empathetic, and professional communication with clients throughout the case.
Negotiation and Conflict Resolution
  • Lead negotiation efforts on behalf of clients, aiming for amicable settlements where possible.
  • Resolve disputes efficiently while protecting clients' interests.
Business Development and Growth
  • Contribute to the growth of the firm by developing client relationships and generating new business.
  • Represent the firm at networking events, legal functions, and in the media when applicable.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to practice law in New York State.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in matrimonial or family law.
  • Strong knowledge of divorce law, custody issues, spousal and child support, and equitable distribution.
  • Proven experience in handling complex family law cases, including trial and litigation experience.
