About the Role
">The Colwell Law Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Associate Attorney to join our team of talented legal professionals.
">This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned attorney to take on a leadership role in our matrimonial and family law practice. As a Senior Associate Attorney, you will be responsible for handling complex cases, including divorce, child custody, support, and other family/matrimonial matters.
">You will work closely with our team to provide expert legal representation, guidance, and mentorship to junior attorneys and legal staff. Your exceptional negotiation and conflict resolution skills will be invaluable in achieving favorable outcomes for our clients.
">We are looking for someone with a proven track record of providing excellent client service, strong organizational and time-management skills, and the ability to manage high-stakes cases with sensitivity.
">Key Responsibilities
">- Cases Management">
Handle all aspects of matrimonial and family law cases, including divorce, custody, spousal support, child support, equitable distribution, and domestic violence issues.
">Advise clients on legal rights, obligations, and strategies, ensuring they are fully informed about their options.
">Represent clients in court, hearings, and settlement negotiations.
">Prepare legal documents such as discovery, motions, pleadings, agreements, and settlements.
">Client Management">Serve as the primary contact for clients, managing client expectations and providing strategic counsel.
">Maintain clear, empathetic, and professional communication with clients throughout the case.
">Build lasting client relationships and work to retain and attract new clients through excellent service and legal expertise.
">Supervision & Mentorship">Supervise and mentor junior attorneys, paralegals, and support staff within the firm.
">Review and provide feedback on the work product of legal staff to ensure quality and consistency.
">Conduct training when assigned.
">Negotiation">Lead negotiation efforts on behalf of clients, aiming for amicable settlements where possible.
">Resolve disputes efficiently while protecting clients' interests.
">Develop innovative legal strategies to achieve favorable outcomes in both litigation and settlement scenarios.
">Legal Research & Continuing Education">Stay updated on recent developments in matrimonial and family law.
">Conduct in-depth legal research to support case strategy and preparation.
">Attend legal seminars, conferences, and workshops relevant to matrimonial law when available.
">Compensation Details
">As a valued member of our team, you can expect a competitive salary ranging from $100,000 to $120,000 per year, plus quarterly bonuses.
">You will also receive a comprehensive benefits package, including medical coverage with a national network, company-paid life insurance policy, dental, vision/Rx, pet insurance options, paid time off (10 days of vacation, 7 days of personal, and 8 paid holidays), collaborative management philosophy, and a professional, respectful, and diverse work culture.
">Working Conditions
">This is a full-time position primarily in an office environment with frequent court appearances.
">Regular travel to local courthouses and client meetings is required.
">Potential for extended hours, especially during trial preparation or busy periods.
">Travel to meetings and court appearances may be necessary.
">Qualifications
">- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.">
- Admitted to practice law in New York State.">
- Minimum of 5 (five) years of experience in matrimonial or family law.">
- Strong knowledge of divorce law, custody issues, spousal and child support, and equitable distribution.">
- Proven experience in handling complex family law cases, including trial and litigation experience.">
- Track record of providing excellent client service.">
- A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle are required.">
- Ability to successfully pass a background check.">
