JOB SUMMARY:
This role is integral to the assembly of mechanical and electro-mechanical boards, hardware, and various door products, including complex units and assemblies. Responsibilities include setting up jobs, soldering components to printed boards, conducting re-work, packaging products, and performing additional tasks as necessary.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Reading and interpreting bills of materials (BOM) to accurately select materials for scheduled work orders.
- Assembling mechanical and electro-mechanical units and boards, utilizing a variety of components such as electronic parts, PC boards, covers, plates, screws, nuts, and wires.
- Meeting or exceeding standard production rates.
- Operating machines, hand tools, small power tools, voltage meters, and testing equipment for product assembly and testing.
- Reviewing work orders to ensure the availability of necessary materials, tools, equipment, and resources for production tasks.
- Following process sheets to assemble boards and units for both standard and custom orders.
- Working from samples, drawings, blueprints, and verbal instructions. Soldering components and wires to printed circuit boards and completing re-work as needed.
- Stripping, wrapping, and wiring units.
- Inserting small components and wires onto printed circuit boards.
- Packaging products and preparing them for shipment, ensuring compliance with workmanship standards.
- Attaching identifying labels to finished products and containers as per work instructions.
- Assisting in the movement of materials, parts, and products as required.
- Identifying items and determining stock locations for efficient storage.
- Ensuring adherence to assigned production work orders and communicating any deviations promptly.
- Conducting in-process inspections to verify that products meet specifications and quality standards, reporting any variances to the supervisor.
- Collaborating with Quality Auditors to ensure that all production outputs align with specifications, minimizing variances and customer complaints.
Production Ownership:
Accountable for the efficiency, productivity, and accuracy of produced items to minimize backlog while consistently meeting or exceeding standard rates.
Attendance:
- Arriving on time at the start of shifts and after breaks, ready to work immediately.
- Maintaining professional appearance and communication skills to foster a respectful and team-oriented work environment.
- Supporting cross-training initiatives for production staff and new hires.
- Reporting any building, equipment sanitation, OSHA, and safety concerns without delay.
- Demonstrating continuous improvement in production output and workplace sanitation.
- Maintaining cleanliness, organization, quality control, and safety in the work area, adhering to established procedures and operational controls.
- Following safe working practices and wearing required personal protective equipment.
- Performing additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED certificate required.
- Experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment, particularly with soldering, is essential.
- Mechanical aptitude and proficiency with hand tools, small power tools, and soldering equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, prints, and engineering documentation.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Ability to distinguish colors for color-coding practices.
- Capacity to perform detailed repetitive tasks for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail, planning, and time management skills, with a willingness to undertake various production tasks.
- Effective listening and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Willingness to work weekends and overtime as required.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects up to 50 pounds occasionally and/or frequently.
- Work involves frequent standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, twisting, turning, reaching, and bending.
- Visual acuity, speech, and hearing; hand-eye coordination, near and far vision, depth perception, and manual dexterity are essential for working with various materials and operating basic office equipment.
