Job Summary

Ash Grove Cement, a CRH company, is seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician II to join our team. As a Mechanical Technician II, you will be responsible for inspecting and repairing plant process machinery, operating heavy equipment, and providing recommendations for maintenance and repair.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect plant process machinery and provide recommendations for repair and maintenance.
  • Install and repair plant process machinery, including motors, gearboxes, conveyer belts, and other equipment.
  • Operate heavy equipment, such as boom-lifts, cranes, and forklifts, to move materials and equipment around the plant.
  • Provide detailed written descriptions of work performed and scope of work for repairs during scheduled and unscheduled mill and kiln outages.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as required.
Requirements
  • High school graduation or equivalent required.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, and other safety-related materials.
  • Willingness to learn and training will be provided.
  • Some college courses preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with heavy processing equipment.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the Mineral Processing industry preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 months of experience in a cement plant or similar heavy industry setting.
  • Knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to repair and rebuild plant equipment with little supervision.
  • Ability to reason through difficult operations/maintenance problems and resolve them.
What to Expect

Work will be performed in a shop environment as well as outdoor exposure throughout the plant. You will be exposed to cement dust, heat, cold, and noise, and will be required to comply with specified safety guidelines and procedures. You will also be exposed to high elevations and may be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
