Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse Shift Supervisor to join our team at the Texas Health & Human Services Commission. As a key member of our nursing staff, you will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing nursing activities, ensuring appropriate nursing staff coverage during assigned shifts, and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and oversee nursing activities, including comprehensive physical assessments, health screenings, and treatments.
  • Ensure appropriate nursing staff coverage during assigned shifts, collaborating with nursing schedule and other staff as needed.
  • Respond to emergency situations, providing assessment and ensuring safety and care of individuals and staff.
  • Provide treatment to HHS employees injured in the course and scope of employment.
  • Perform complex nursing work, including comprehensive physical assessments, health screenings, and treatments.
  • Develop and present information for inservice training or staff development, as assigned.
  • Communicate with other disciplines, including direct care staff, physicians, and administration, to ensure optimal care.
  • Maintain a professional, harmonious working relationship with facility employees and outside agency employees.
Requirements
  • Licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Texas or a state that recognizes reciprocity through the Nurse Licensure Compact.
  • At least one year of experience as a practicing registered nurse, with at least two years of experience in a health agency, hospital, or healthcare facility preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Previous experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Nursing supervisory experience preferred.
