Cardiac Monitor Technician

We are seeking a skilled Cardiac Monitor Tech to join our team at WVU Medicine. As a Cardiac Monitor Tech, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest level of patient care by monitoring cardiac rhythms and providing timely interventions.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor cardiac rhythms for patients on telemetry and hard-wire monitored units, identifying changes and reporting abnormalities to medical and nursing staff.
- Analyze and interpret ECG strip waveform displays, documenting patient rhythms and changes according to established guidelines.
- Utilize Wave Strip Export to upload patient cardiac rhythms to corresponding charts in EPIC.
- Monitor pulse oximetry for assigned patient populations and ensure accuracy of patient admissions, discharges, and transfers using Epic/Telemetry Dashboard.
- Assemble telemetry packs, batteries, and electrodes for nursing staff and maintain inventory of clean packs and batteries.
- Assist with troubleshooting of malfunctioning equipment and notify Healthcare Technology Supervisor and Nurse Manager as needed.
- Perform routine clerical operations, including intrahospital communications, admit/transfer/discharge/follow-up care information, mail distribution, and maintenance of office supplies.
- Organize and maintain patient records and department records to ensure accurate and complete documentation.
- Coordinate and facilitate ongoing communication to ensure efficient intradepartmental and interdepartmental operations.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Successful completion of a Basic Dysrhythmia course within 180 days of hire.
- Graduate of Technical Education Program or Medical Assistant Program preferred.
- Obtain certification in HeartSaver or Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.
The work environment is a standard clinical setting, requiring the ability to visually monitor multiple computer screens with cardiac rhythms, pulse oximetry, and capnography waveforms for sustained periods.
Skills and Abilities- Ability to troubleshoot technology with biomedical engineering and clinical staff.
- Ability to work as a cooperative, focused team player, take direction well, and have a positive attitude to work with patients, nursing staff, and physicians.
- Basic computer knowledge and ability to operate standard office software.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Good verbal/writing and mathematical skills.
