Deli Clerk

Job Summary:

Festival Foods is seeking a skilled Deli Clerk to join our team. As a Deli Clerk, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, preparing and fulfilling guest orders, and maintaining a clean and organized deli department.

Key Responsibilities:

• Guest Assistance: Assist guests in locating items on the sales floor and respond to deli department telephone calls in a professional manner.
• Order Fulfillment: Receive, prepare, and fulfill guest orders and special requests with attention to detail and quality.
• Customer Service: Address guest concerns and resolve issues promptly, ensuring a positive experience.
• Quality Control: Inspect, rotate, and maintain proper temperatures and inventory levels of deli products on display.
• Inventory Management: Maintain proper inventory levels in the deli storage area.
• Food Safety: Lead by example in maintaining food safety logs and adhering to all safety standards.
• Efficiency: Ensure all quality standards, including quantity expectations, are met by 10 am and 5 pm daily.
• Honor Commitments: Regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule, and adequate notice to find a replacement for occasional absences.
• Support the Team: Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Customer Focus: Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with guests and all personnel.
• Communication Skills: Good oral and written communication skills.
• Effective Problem-Solving: Ability to quickly assess and resolve issues in a dynamic and stressful work environment, while supporting team members.
• Safety Awareness: Comprehensive understanding of safety requirements and company safety policies, including proper training on slicers, lifting techniques, trash compactors, and balers.
• Food Knowledge: Knowledge of the retail food business, perishable department operations, and merchandising skills, with the ability to make timely and effective decisions.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• Lifting up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
• Full range of upper body motion.
• Ability to work at a fast pace.
• May be exposed to extreme temperatures.
