Phlebotomy Specialist

As a Phlebotomy Specialist at PathGroup, you will perform daily phlebotomy activities with accuracy and efficiency. This role involves working at multiple assigned locations, interacting with clients and patients in a professional manner, and collecting specimens according to established procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Greet customers and treat them with courtesy and respect.
- Manage the needs of multiple assigned locations, ensuring all field phlebotomy and PSC specimens are collected accurately and on time.
- Collect specimens according to established procedures, explaining the process to patients in a clear and courteous manner.
- Dispose of biohazard fluids and sharps in accordance with applicable laws and policies.
- Enter patient and specimen information into the computer system, maintaining high accuracy and attention to detail.
- Communicate with clients to confirm orders, verify test information, and obtain accurate billing details.
- Research test and client information using the lab computer system.
- Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required.
- Package specimens for transport and store them according to required temperature and protocols.
- Maintain required records and documentation, including daily logs and PSC/IOP Phlebotomy records.
- Abide by all regulatory, company, and departmental regulations, policies, and standard operating procedures.
- Assist with compilation of monthly statistics and data, and perform basic clerical duties such as filing, faxing, and preparing mail.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Phlebotomist Certification is preferred (required in Louisiana).
- Prior job-related experience required (1-3 years).
