We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for collecting blood samples from patients and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the specimens.
Key Responsibilities- Verify patient identification to ensure specimen safety
- Assess patient reactions to specimen procurement
- Perform venipuncture and collect specimens from newborn, pediatric, and adult patients
- Obtain medical assistance when necessary
- Ensure completion of specimen collection functions according to protocol
- Resolve specimen identification and/or requisition problems
- High school graduate
- No experience required
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in phlebotomy or related laboratory function
- Basic computer skills, including experience using computer software applications
- Keyboarding and typing skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and bend the majority of the workday. May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, radioactive, and/or infectious agents. Will be exposed to human blood and body fluids. Must wear appropriate lab coat, gloves, gowns, and eye and face protection as needed.
