Purpose:

Sanctuary Recovery Centers aims to clarify job roles and responsibilities within the organization to ensure a seamless treatment experience for our patients.

Position Summary:

As a Behavioral Health Technician, you will work under the guidance of medical professionals to provide support and care to individuals with mental health conditions. Your primary focus will be on assisting in the development and implementation of treatment plans, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry out individualized treatment plans as prescribed by medical professionals.
  • Provide a clean, safe, and compliant environment for all clients.
  • Monitor clients and document observations accurately.
  • Report client progress and concerns in a timely manner.
  • Ensure patients have a supportive environment conducive to healing and recovery.
  • Diffuse situations where clients may harm themselves or others.
  • Provide emotional support while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Alert medical professionals to intervene in emergencies.
  • Follow facility rules and guidelines, ensuring clients adhere to outlined policies.
  • Perform required assessments and administrative tasks.
  • Maintain strict patient confidentiality.
Applicability:

This policy applies to all Sanctuary Recovery Centers personnel and residents.

Procedure:

Administrators must ensure that policies and procedures are established, documented, and implemented, including:

  • Delineating services a behavioral health paraprofessional can provide.
  • Covering supervision of a behavioral health paraprofessional, including documentation.
  • Establishing qualifications for a behavioral health professional providing supervision.
  • Delineating services a behavioral health technician can provide.
  • Covering clinical oversight for a behavioral health technician, including documentation.
  • Establishing qualifications for a behavioral health professional providing clinical oversight.
  • Delineating methods used to provide clinical oversight.
  • Establishing the process for providing information about services provided by a behavioral health technician.

A behavioral health paraprofessional must receive supervision according to policies and procedures, and clinical oversight must be provided to a behavioral health technician to ensure patient needs are met.

Clinical oversight must be provided at least once during each two-week period if the behavioral health technician provides services related to patient care.

When clinical oversight is provided electronically, a secure connection must be used, and the identities of the behavioral health professional providing and the behavioral health technician receiving the clinical oversight must be verified.

A licensed behavioral health professional must provide supervision to a behavioral health paraprofessional or clinical oversight to a behavioral health technician within their scope of practice established in the applicable licensing requirements.
