We are seeking an accomplished leader to join our team as the Director of Functional Neurosurgery at The University of Texas at Austin.

About the Role

The successful candidate will lead and develop a comprehensive functional neurosurgery program at UT Dell Medical School and Ascension Texas, including two focus hospitals in Central Austin. They will collaborate with members of the Departments of Neurology and Psychiatry to establish a robust multidisciplinary functional neurosurgery practice.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop a comprehensive functional neurosurgery program
  • Collaborate on evaluation and implementation of new functional neurosurgery technologies and resources
  • Review and maintain appropriate metrics and outcomes for functional neurosurgery based on national benchmarks
  • Participate in research programs in collaboration with clinical and translational research partners
  • Train and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows on clinical management, models of care, research, and education in functional disorders
Qualifications
  • Medical Degree from an LCME-accredited medical school
  • Successful completion of training in an ACGME-accredited neurosurgical residency
  • Current board certification or tracking towards board certification by the American Board of Neurological Surgery
  • Successful completion of accredited functional neurosurgery fellowship or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience of clinical teaching, evaluation, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with neurologists, psychiatrists, psychologists, physical medicine and rehabilitation, and other clinician specialists in a comprehensive functional program
  • Experience delivering care through a multidisciplinary team and program
