Clinical Nurse Specialist in Wound Management

**Role Summary**

We are focused on delivering exceptional care for complex and non-healing wounds, addressing conditions stemming from diabetes, vascular issues, pressure injuries, and other health challenges.



**Key Responsibilities**
  • Conduct thorough physical, psychosocial, and emotional assessments for all assigned patients.
  • Develop and implement tailored care plans utilizing critical thinking to prioritize nursing interventions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all nursing actions and patient responses.
  • Collaborate effectively with the healthcare team, sharing vital information regarding patient care.
  • Ensure continuity of safe and effective care across shifts and during patient transitions.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and adjust care plans as necessary.
  • Adhere to established hospital policies and nursing standards while providing care.
  • Deliver timely education to patients and their families, documenting all educational interactions.
  • Supervise and guide unlicensed assistive personnel and new nursing staff, delegating tasks appropriately.
  • Take responsibility for workplace actions, reporting errors promptly and addressing them appropriately.
  • Handle patient and family complaints with professionalism, escalating issues as needed.
  • Engage in performance improvement initiatives and complete required training modules.
  • Provide community education on wound care and related topics as requested.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


**Qualifications**

**Education and Experience**

Associate Degree in Nursing with a minimum of one year of experience in an acute care setting is required. Specialty areas may necessitate additional experience based on unit standards.

A valid TX BON or Compact State RN License is mandatory, along with current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an accredited provider.

Preferred certifications include Wound Ostomy Continence Nursing Certificate (CWOCN), Wound Care Certification (WCC), Certified Wound Specialist (CWS), or Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN).
