In this position, you will engage in our day program, delivering care, education, and recreational activities to individuals with developmental disabilities. You will facilitate both individual and group activities aimed at enhancing skills in communication, problem-solving, self-care, and motor abilities. Our day services staff create avenues for individuals to reach personal goals and develop essential life skills while enjoying various activities such as social outings, art projects, cooking lessons, and musical exploration.
No prior experience is required, as Vodec provides comprehensive training. We also offer opportunities for increased responsibility, career advancement, and professional growth.
Key Responsibilities:
As a direct support professional, you will address the needs and preferences of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, which include:
- Encouraging positive social interactions
- Enhancing the lives of individuals
- Supporting personal aspirations
- Assisting individuals in gaining knowledge and confidence in life skills
- Teaching skills to foster independence
- Reinforcing therapies, including speech, behavioral support, and physical therapy
- Administering medications
- Assisting individuals with personal hygiene
- Ensuring all needs are met respectfully, honoring dignity and personal choice
- Completing and maintaining necessary documentation
